Hello everyone, I am curious how much you all think I could sell a flawless M&P 9mm Full size for. I'm thinking about getting a s&w .380 bodyguard. I originally paid 580 for the m&p brand new a few years back but wanted to know what you guys thought. I've only put around 300 through the chamber.

Thanks.

$300-$350 would be my guess. Police turnins abound, and even new ones go on sale fom time to time. Lots of competition out there.

Probably less considering I just bought my 2.0 new for $280 after rebate.

If I were in the market for a used gun it would have to be noticeably lower in price then a new current model for me to consider.
So without doing any research I’d initially think the low 300’s is about max. May depend on # of mags etc included and if 100% stock.

I have a MP 1.0 that I love so know they can be a great gun even stock; so the above is just my general .02

To the OP....I won’t try to talk you out of getting a BG 380. I have one and carry it often when deep concealment is necessary. But make no mistake, these are a close quarter last resort carry gun. Beyond 5 yards it is a real challenge to control due to the long heavy double action trigger. So again, just make sure to think it all thru as to what your needs really are.

Good luck selling any used M&P for more than $250. It's hardly worth the risk/hassle to sell them.

O.P.,

First the bad news. You have too much money invested in your gun. Earlier this year I brought a new unfired M&P 1.0 for $265.00. With shipping and transfer fee it ran me about $300.00.

Last year we brought a M&P for my wife that we overpaid for. But it was tricked out with APEX Duty Trigger kit and Tru-Glo fiber optic sights. For her birthday this year I added a Crimson Trace green laser. We will never recoup the money we have invested in it. However the good news is it is the first gun my wife found that she can shoot pain-free so it is money well spent. Another big plus is both of my daughters love shooting it.

In addition I have brought a bunch of extra magazines.

I believe in "3 is 2, 2 is 1 and 1 is none" so I plan on installing a APEX Duty Trigger on the spare M&P I brought earlier this year. No plans to change the sights or add a laser but that may change someday.

Your options are;

1. Sell it at a $300.00 +/- loss.

2. Hold it and sell at the next panic which may start as soon as November 7th.

3. Keep it and upgrade with a APEX Trigger. Change the sights and add a laser if you desire. Add more magazines and you will have a very nice defensive handgun package.

I am not a striker fired pistol fan so it is unlikely I will ever buy another and the pair of M&P's we have now will last us the rest of our lives.

You could get $750 for it in Commiefornia. I'm not kidding. There are at least 2 ads that were posted yesterday for 1.0 M&P 9's at $750. One with night sights and an Apex trigger, the other stock with only one 10 round mag.

At that price, you can fly out to CA and sell it and it will pay for your plane ticket :)

Plain BG 380’s are available used in local gun stores near me for under $300. I wouldn’t sell a more expensive, better gun at a discount to finance the purchase of a relatively inexpensive mouse gun. Save. Pay cash. Keep the FS.

The only thing you have going is its a 9 . I had a mint full size MP 40 cal L/E package 3 mags , night sites one place on a trade wanted to give me 235 bucks . gun was shot 2 times . I ended up 300 a week later and ran .

Does that mean they are "illegal", "off roster", "not on approved list" or whatever other nonsense phrase they have out there?

Last winter the new 2.0s were $525 here in W. Pa. LGSs....... I got a "used" "unfired/as new in box" w/3 mags for $300 "Out the Door" ... so the gun itself was about $275....... the original receipt was in the box $545 IIRC.

Not a striker fired gun fan but a 17+1 9mm for $300 ..... bought it ...stuck a light on it and it's GTG in the bedroom safe.

I picked up a L/E package MP 40 ,3 mags , fact night sights not long ago for 335 . Its the 2.0 gun . I was just out in Western PA to Kintaning Rt 422 whole way to Glacier sand and gravel . I saw one nice gun shop along 422 but not open , was going to go back through Homer City and make a stop but did not . I would keep your 9 and pick up a 380 when you can .

M&Ps have turned into a money-sinkhole. :o Great if you’re buying; lousy if you’re an owner needing to sell.

In your shoes, I would pass on the BG380 and look for something more reliable. I’ve had three now - none worth a tinker’s you-know-what. “Repair” by S&W under warranty ineffective. A waste of my time - and their money.

Hang onto the M&P9. As has been said, maybe you’ll find a buyer during the next panic-frenzy, which I hope doesn’t come soon. Two or three doses of that is enough. Otherwise, put it on a shelf or in a drawer and forget it. It’s still just as good a gun as it ever was. No sense disposing of it for chicken feed.

^^^^^ agreed. the m&p is not an expensive gun. Yours went for a pretty penny, however, the resale on them is not favorable. i'd hang on to it.... why the urge to sell?

I paid $500.00 for my new 5" M&P 2.0.
Would not recommend the little Bodyguard... many better choices out there. Perhaps a Ruger LCP??

I have two 380 BG's and carry them both, at the same time. The trigger takes some time to get good at. I would never give them up, but as already said, they are for close-quarter-battles. I would suggest you keep the FS-9, if you want to be able to reliably hit a target, longer than 50 feet.

Like nearly everything above, the M&P is a Buyer's market. Police trade-ins have this flooded. Basically to the point that I wish I needed one. Great gun, and for the consumer right now, ultra affordable.

As far as the bodyguard, no experience myself, but I'd be after a Shield 9mm all day over this model. I have a Shield, but its the .40, so I'd say the 9mm would be better than mine is, and I can shoot it extremely accurately from 30yds all day. 8" plates no issue, and I can only expect I'd be better with a 9 over a .40.
