As regards routine cleaning & maybe light maintenance of a full-size 9mm M&P, I've been thinking about a pistol vice (or holder).

So first, are there any reasons to avoid using one? Any experience pro or con?

Second, any recommendations on a particularly good one?

And third, does anybody know who manufactures the "Superior Gun Grabber Pistol Vise"?

As always, thanks for sharing your help, advice and expertise.

You could always cut a piece of wood the size of a magazine, and chuck it in any old vice.

:)

Sure could - but these investigations of mine are in part to locate products that may or may not be used in a handgun context bout could be, and in part to locate products purpose-built to a handgun context, to locate the manufacturer in either case and to arrange to get the product in for an editorial review.

I recognize that vises are much more necessary for long guns but they're handy enough for handguns that I was surprised by how few are out there and of those, how some offerings seem to have been discontinued.

Still, your suggestion gives me an idea that I think I'll take up with a nearby manufacturing company.

Thanks.

marty,

Look at Midway's "Tipton's Best Gun Vise". It is made for long guns, but is easily used, via padded jaw, to also safely hold a handgun. I believe Brownells also carries it and I have seen the same product at Bass Pro.

Thanks, Mike - I sent them a note 2 days ago - but you're exactly on-target for this investigation.
