So I bought an M&P 9mm a couple weeks ago as a home defense gun, occasional range gun and I will carry sometimes while at work.

I am looking for a holster for it. What are some recommendations you might have?

Thanks

Concealed or open? IWB or OWB? Blackhawk Serpa holsters are good and are fairly cheap. On S&W's website they have alot of nice Bianchi (I think) leather holsters, but are around $70.

I have a Bladetech for mine and it works great. Going to get another that will hold pistol with light mounted on it.

If you have a minute, swing by my website and see if we might be able to help you out. Everything is made custom will very minimal wait times.. .

For open carry of my M&P, I use a retention holster that prevents someone snatching my gun out of the holster.

I had an issue with the Safariland holster with my FS M&P9 and 9c. After a little over a couple weeks use (four trips to the range) I noticed it was rubbing the finish off of my slide on the upper left side of both of the guns - some pics. It was very noticeable so I sent it back and got the Fobus Standard Holster - Amazon.com: Fobus Standard Holster RH Paddle SWMP S&W M&P 9mm, .40, .45 (compact & full size), SD 9 &40: Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41kUbs19opL.@@AMEPARAM@@41kUbs19opL.

For IWB holsters I would very highly recommend checking out Crossbreed Holsters. I bought a SuperTuck for my 9c and absolutely love it! They have a guarantee that allows you to try out one of their holsters for two weeks and if you don't like it you can do a one time swap for another one or you can send it back and they will buy it back from you.

Do a search on Lobogunleather and you'll see that Ray makes a great holster. I have one of his IWB's for my M&P and would not hesitate to buy an OWB from him. I've never seen a negative post about his holsters.
