I have been really looking hard at getting an AR-10 .308 and really like both of the above guns. Would just like to get peoples opinions on them. Or maybe suggest something else. Right now own the AR-15 & AR-22 by M&P so that was reason leaned toward them in beginning until Ruger introduced theres now well don't know.

I'm going to save you the embarrassment before you get it from others here on the site! And it's all in good nature of course. Smith & Wesson makes an M&P10 in .308, it is not an AR-10.

That said, I love my M&P10. I have the other M&P's as well and they have been flawless. My M&P10 has had some growing pains like all the others but nothing that cannot be remedied.

Clean the hell out of it as soon as you get it home. Run the BCG wet! Try any ammo you wish but know it may like some better than others. Once you do that, then mod it out!!

Good luck. You can't go wrong with this rifle. I don't know anything about the Ruger.

Both are fine weapon systems.

Right now I'd go with the M&P-10. Follow the manuals instructions and clean all the storage lube off and re-lube as directed. Give it some good break-in time. Remember. S&W backs up all their products second to none.

The SR-762 is also going through some "growing pains". There was a little problem with tooling, but it seems to be fixed now. You want to be able to actually look at the weapon. If it has gen 3 PMags or Magpul mags it's good to go. Metal mags I'd walk away.
