I just picked up the m&p bodyguard 38 (polymer revolver) today and have personally experienced a few things, which have also been experienced by other people as mentioned in various online postings.

Firstly, this is a reproducible "problem", but when you close the cylinder, and it isn't indexed, and then you manually index the cylinder by rotating it clockwise, the first trigger pull doesn't rotate the cylinder 100% of the time, even though the hammer gets fired.

However, if you close the cylinder, and the cylinder isn't indexed, but then manually index it by rotating it counter-clockwise, the first trigger pull will almost always rotate the cylinder.

As a matter of fact, it's best to not even manually index the cylinder, because if the cylinder isn't indexed, and you pull the trigger, the cylinder always rotates to the next chamber and fires.

But if you want to manually index the cylinder, then the best thing I've discovered is to close the cylinder while pushing forward on the cylinder release, then index the cylinder clockwise or counter-clockwise, and then let go of the cylinder release. This will always rotate the cylinder on the first trigger pull.

Another way to get a guaranteed rotation on first trigger pull is to close the cylinder into an immediate indexed position.

I haven't tested it at the range yet, but I predict that the non-rotation on the first trigger pull is not an issue because all 5 rounds will be fired in just 5 trigger pulls and there should be no misfires.
