Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me what the results would be by removing the firing pin blocker on a M&P 380 Bodyguard.
The pros and cons. What has changed in the performance.
Thanks, Joe

It would no longer be drop safe. Also any failure of the sear/hammer could cause the weapon to fire.

Why would you want to remove it?

it would make the trigger pull lighter, but very little. it isn't a procedure i'd try.

OK here is the story.
Two weeks ago I installed a Galloway Precision short stroke trigger.
The gun worked fine before I installed. After when I fired it 3or 4 rounds would light strike (misfire) per mag. But here is the kicker. When I got the light strike I could not re-rack to eject the shell. It would not come back. So I pulled the trigger 4 to 6 times and then it would fire.
I explained this to Galloway and they said it may be in the timing of the trigger now being off and my only choices were to replace the original (lose $120) or remove the block.
Sounded odd to me so I ask my original question here on the forum.
So, does anyone have a suggestion?

PS

P.S. I'm not a pistol expert so forgive me if my wording is not correct. Know a good bit about M16's but that was years ago.
Thanks, Joe

I installed a Galloway trigger and springs in my first .380 BG. i had light strike issues with it. i'm going to reinstall all original springs. i have 2 more BG's with no mods and they are 100% reliable and easy to shoot accurately.

Hi oldiegoldie,
Are you going to keep the Galloway trigger and your old springs?
Also what bothers me more is I can't pull the slide back at all after a light strike.
By the way my original trigger goes completely back and touches the guard as it goes off. This make my finger move way to far across the trigger and I might miss target.

Thanks, Joe

not sure when i'll get around to that project.....it's not on the front burner. disassembling the .380 BG is a pain in the back side. they are nice little pistols though. Federal ammo is all i use, as the primers have the deserved reputation of being reliably soft.

So the manufacturer of the trigger is telling you to remove a factory safety device? I hope their legal people don't hear about that.
