I'm starting on IDPA matches where Ported Barrel and Red Dot sights are not allowed so I've been forced to un-customize my gun, but I'm finding that the White painted dots on the iron sights are not as visible as Red or Green optic sights.

What do you guys recommend, is there a specific recommended sight upgrade or special paint for higher visibility?

Please advise and thanks !

Dawson Precision or Novak.

If you had bought the M&P 9Pro 5"bbl, it comes with the NOVAK flat black back and FO front. The are lower than the sights on the CORE, and better suited for IDPA. In fact the 9Pro 5" fits perfectly into IDPA/SSP.

I've another bit of bad news for you. Per IDPA rule 8.2.1.4.8, your ported slide, even with a non-ported barrel installed, bumps you up from Stock (SSP) to Enhanced (ESP) Division. (competing against single-action metal guns like STI)

I'm very familiar with these issues as a Match Director who often has to deliver the bad news. Your gun is much better suited for USPSA, where you can shoot OPEN, or put a non-ported barrel in and shoot CARRY OPTIC, and then also take off the optic and shoot PRODUCTION.
IDPA allows no optics or ports, and in SSP, NO externally visible modifications other than sights, grip tape.

I got our area coordinator to allow a carry options division in our monthly matches. You get to shoot for score but not for competition.

So even if I replace the ported barrel for a non ported barrel, will still be out of IDPA compliant? I read the rules book and it mentions ported barrel.

I just ordered a non ported barrel, but now I'm still doubtful.

To repeat what I said above you will be compliant with IDPA/ESP:
