Well Dang, thats about all I can say. I just got this here hogleg earlier this week, came with 3 6rd mags and 7 7rd mags, 4 holsters and the guy thru in 250 rounds of ball ammo, all for 400 and 250rds of 9mm ball that cost me like 9.99 a box.

Shoots purt near point of aim, I also shot my three new to me shields, 2 2.0 models with safety's and 1 1.0 model with safety. Not one single shield had issues with any type of ammo fired, the 45 even fired the round known as the flying ashtray hp. My order of mags for my 2.0 compact 15rd and shield 9's came in yesterday and I'm tempted to try out those ETS and promags but I'm resisting the urge, and simply ordered more 15 buck LEO used 17rd mags.

Gotta trade tomorrow for 15 8rd shield 9mm mags for some 30-06 bronze tip ammo I don't need. If I didn't have 51 years on the 1911, I'd most likely be considering making the Shield 45 my PC.

Now, Ive got my eyes on a Shield Plus.

It’s one of my favorites. It’s a great shooting little big bore

You did very well and that Shield should be a better summer gun then your 1911…

I've carried a full size 1911 concealed since the very early 80's. It's weight is negligible, but that's probably only because I've carried it for so long. It's lines are smooth to look at, just the Shield is. As to changing??? I tried once with a 1st gen glock 17, but every time I drew the friggin thing I kept going for the safety.

I'm thinking I'll add the Shields to my home defense but as to going outside the home? PC will always be a Kimber Raptor or Colt Combat Elite, Metaloyed with 5.5lb trigger and my BUG will always be the Kimber Ultra Raptor or Colt Officers, Metaloyed with 5.5lb triggers.

Thought I'd got my hands on a Shield Plus, made arrangements to trade with a guy who's been bugging me for my FDE Sig P220 but just got a text from him saying his " brother in law " wants it and well, he's family.

The search continues.

Which is why all my carry, or home defense, firearms have thumb safeties. M&P 45s, Shield 45s, Kimber Micro 9s, Sig P938, etc.

Love me some 1911 too and have carried my Sig Ultra on more than one occasion, until the Shield 45 came to be.

Came down to simple economics. If that Sig Ultra for whatever reason got confiscated, stolen, or damaged while handling, every bit of $800+ went with it. Something happens to my Shield 45, ah well, go buy another. I have two Shield 45s for what was invested in my Sig Ultra.

Ultra, does your shield have a preferred 45 round?? For some reason mine shoots killer straight with 230gr FMJ-FP, Guard Dog 76gr Fragmentation is my SD round of choice and it shoots it well enough to not change.

Both shield 45s w/ SSGR (stainless steel guide rods) like 185 JHPs doing about 800-900 FPS. They just "eat" at 25 yards offhand. Haven't tried much else because the recoil and recovery is very managable for a light weight polymer, short barreled, 45.

Before COVID, LGS had a large quantity PMC bronze 185 JHPs, box of 50 for ~$25. They shot so good, I hoarded about 1000 rounds. It's either them or the long discontinued Taurus brand 185 JHPs which were loaded with a barnes bullet. Hoarded a bunch of those at a very affordable clearance price. Both shoot the same POA, as do my reloads which are a Zero brand 185 JHP pushed to a comparable velocity.
