Hey all. My wife's M&P Shield ( version 1 ) has been giving her problems returning to full battery. Only has 50-100 rounds thru it... so she is going to give it a bit more break in time before she sends it in.
However looking over the parts closely I noticed the ejector has a bunch of chips in it, as you can see. There are no friction marks on the slide from it and since it's all black I figure maybe this is how it was finished at factory.
What implications does this have? Should she send it in and lose the gun for 2 months or not a big deal?

The ejector stud is made of rolled and die formed sheet metal, similar to a Daisy BB gun, but it works. What you see looks like de-lamination in the rolled sheet metal where it was die cut. Very common. S&W's coating system exaggerates them. The ejecting cartridge doesn't contact the ejector where you see the jagged, rough surface. Neither does the slide unless it is grossly out of line. Don't worry about it. All of my plastic S&W handguns are working just fine, just like my Model 25 Daisy, now almost 70 years old.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. Wasn't looking forward to a long return ordeal
