Good evening all.

I've been using a Glock 19, 4th Gen since April 2011. Finally today, I parted ways with it, for a M&P Shield 9mm.

What a difference it is to carry this gun concealed. I even made it a point to visit the range with it today, too.

Maybe now, I'll actually visit the range more often!

Only 6 yards. I asked the safety person to set it at an average distance for me.

Congratulations on the purchase of your shield. They are very accurate and easy to conceal.

My missus just saw my M&P for the first time. She said, "I wouldn't have expected you to have such a small gun." I stand 6 foot, 235lbs and decent size hands. I used to use a Glock 19, and this makes a big difference carrying. Even when she hugged me yesterday she couldn't feel that I had it on me. With my Glock you could see it a mile off.

9mm Shield

Congrads on the Shield. I have one that I had tricked out, and liked it so much I just bought a second. It will stay stock ,just NS maybe a CT laser?

This is the exact reason I bought a shield. I had no problem carrying a fullsize 45 at 6'4" 245 but with the shield it kinda just disappears.

Congrats on the new Shield. I have a Glock 19 Gen 4 which is my favorite gun, but it isn't right for CC and that's why I bought my Shield 9mm. Like most new shooters (>2 years) who report their accuracy the first time on the range, it certainly wasn't on par with the G19. With advice from the forum members, my wife and I began to practice at 3 yds, then 5 and finally 7 to get the groupings under control. It really helps to get the sight picture down, the trigger pull (a lot heavier than the G), and grip on the smaller gun. We now do almost as well with the Shield as the G. I just bought a S&W 642 as a back up CC for the weight and the simplicity. It's double action which takes some getting use to, but like with the Shield, it just takes practice. Good shooting.

Groups do get tighter over time.

I've put about 600 rounds through my Shield now and it's starting to look more like a group than a random shotgun scatter.

This was at 7 yards offhand fairly rapid fire. I was function testing it after S&W put in a new barrel (bad spot in chamber on first one, thread around here somewhere, fixed and fine).
