Has anyone found a recoil spring kit for this gun yet?
It's over sprung by a mile and unless I find a solution it's going to the back of the gun safe. It's so stiff I can feel the muzzle dip when it returns to battery.
Not having any fun with it at all. It would get sold if I hadn't already bought a $240.00 Craft shoulder rig for it.
Thanks for any input or leads.

I don't know about the springs, but I've got two of the PC Shields and I agree the springs are heavy. Not so much for normal shooting but I dry fire a lot with a laser cartridge, which requires racking the slide back enough to reset the trigger at least. After a while it gets to be a chore.

So I added a "Recover Tactical Slide Rack Assist" to both of mine. Night and day. It adds a plastic piece that give the gun a sort of T at the base of the slide, sort of like the EZ pistols have, with a simple clamshell and a screw/bolt. Might add a bit of bulk to the pistol, but I've never noticed it.

Ok. The vendor I just linked to seems to be out of stock but you can find them on Amazon also.

DPM Systems in Greece is making a kit for me. I've been corresponding back & forth and they don't have an off the shelf kit yet but they asked for the spring length and I sent it. No extra charge. Lead time 3 days.

I have a Shield Plus PC 4" ported barrel (DOM 1/22/22) and a Shield Plus Carry Comp (DOM 9/5/24) and both have what feels like the same amount or racking resistance and firing recoil. Firing them back-to-back I really can't tell any difference. Neither feels excessively stiff. Both shoot relatively flat with acceptable recoil.

Both also have a single stage recoil spring - see pic below. The ported barrel PC is on top, the Carry Comp on the bottom. I believe they are the same or interchangeable spring assemblies. Also in the pic is a new recoil guide assembly I receive from S&W last year - replacement for a 4" barrel Shield which I believe are all the same and all single stage.

My 3.1" ported barrel Shield PC came with a two stage recoil spring. S&W may have used the double stage due to the 3.1" barrel length to get the same overall spring rate. Although I don't really know if the overall spring rating is necessarily higher in a double vs single stage - probably based on the springs used.

To to OP, if you call S&W, I bet they would send you a new OEM spring. It would tell you if yours is somehow out of spec.

Yes it rotated when it attached to the forum post....the regular shield plus is the one at the bottom (2 stage spring assembly) the carry comp in the one on top.

Is your Shield Plus a 3.1" or 4" barrel? I ask because all of the recoil spring assemblies I've seen on 4" Shield barrels are single stage.

I have looked/handled (3) Shield Plus Carry Comps this week at different gun stores and had three observations
1) The recoil spring in all three seemed heavy to me. It was somewhat of a struggle for me to rack the slide. (I’m 77 and have lost some arm strength)
2) The triggers were DIFFERENT on all three. One had a gritty takeup, one had somewhat gritty takeup, and the last one had a nice smooth takeup. All had a defined clean break.
3) The Shield is definitely thinner than my M&P 2.0 Compact Carry Comp but overall didn’t seem that much smaller.

I was on this quest because I bought. the M&P 2.0 Compact Carry Comp a few weeks ago and I really like it. I was curious how much easier the Shield would be for carry. My pistol had a gritty trigger takeup and I installed the Apex ultimate trigger block and that improved the takeup considerably.

Im going to pass on the Shield version and stick with my Compact for Carry.

I received the spring kit from DPM today. It came with six different springs. The kit is labeled Custom made " soft version for Competition loads. I put one of the lighter springs in and the thing is like butter:) The slide resistance is now on par with my Walther and Jericho, both of which have full spring kits as well but smooth as silk. Over the weekend I also tried out 147 grain rounds (vs 115's) with
CFE Pistol at 4.0 grains. They shot in all my guns better than ever in terms of recoil impulse. My split times improved. It's now my new standard load.
I only had to run one mag to know this was the load but tried them in four guns. My brother ran a bunch through his Canik and shot really well with them.
Anyhow, Ill take the kit to the range and see what it likes in terms of springs, I have six of them to try.
Props to DPM ( NFI )

please report your results once you have them. i wasn’t sure which one to order from their site because the 4” shield version doesn’t specifically say shield plus. so thanks for confirming.
