I have heard that removing the striker and firing pin on the M&P Shield is surprisingly difficult, and I have not undertaken to do this yet. On my Ruger SR40c it is very easy to remove the striker and firing pin and I usually do this when cleaning the gun in order to ensure that there is no gunk in the striker channel (there never really is much).

Do people do this with the Shield or no? Any good You-Tube videos or should I just forget it?

You are right. I watched a You-Tube video and then did it myself. It is, if anything, even easier than with the Ruger. Not sure where I got the idea that this was difficult. It is not.

Yeah, it's pretty much like a glock, and I remove mine every time I clean my pistols too.

Are you sure you didn't read or hear the removing the "firing pin or striker block" was difficult on M&P's? Now that's a pain on any M&P, totally not like a glock.

Glad you got it figured out. Just as easy as the SR40c but slightly different. I remove the striker and clean it and the striker channel about every other trip to the range. Never found anything that would cause a problem but it's so easy to do I see no good reason not to, especially on a carry gun.
