I have a M&P9 9mm EZ. I grew up on a farm and always had rifles and shotguns. I'm 79 and bought the EZ because of less strength in my hands. The EZ is hammer fired single action. What is the driving force for the hammer? Is it spring loaded? Being always cocked, does this reduce spring tension over time? Also, I can't find a parts diagram for this gun. Can anyone lead me to this?

My wife has one that has sat loaded in her drawer for years. I take it out once a year to blow the dust out of it and it runs fine and so do the loaded magazines.
Do you need the manual or a parts diagram? I can eMail you the manual.

Parts diagram

Many thanks for the reply! I have the manual. All the diagrams I found online are for the M&P9 Shield that are striker fired. I'd like to have the diagram for the EZ which is hammer fired. Thanks again!

Brand-new springs put under compression will see a certain amount of "set" when first installed, but it is finite; once the initial set is there, it does not change. What will eventually kill a spring is repeated cycling -- compress/release, repeat. In other words, normal use will eventually wear it out, but just being compressed won't.
