Ok, so I have just bought one of these in 5". I wanted to get the ported version as it has the adjustable trigger stop etc. This was what I really wanted but would mean that I would be shooting Open where I want to shoot Production. My question to the gurus out there is this.

Is it possible for me to somehow do a trigger job on my gun that will give me the function and advantages of the ported gun. I really like the idea of being able to ride the trigger stop. Does the standard trigger on my gun match peoples expectations of what a good trigger should be. Phew!!! Thanks for any feedback.

Any modification that is externally visible will take you out of production, so the trigger stop would do that. There are various kits available from Apex that would help the trigger, or you could use this link as a guide to improve the existing trigger. In order to shoot a ported gun in production, you need to use a non ported barrel. And..........I'm not sure the ported Core is on the "Production List" yet. S&W M&P Trigger Job

The PC CORE is on the on the USPSA production list but the PC CORE ported is not specifically called out.

As far as my PC 5" the trigger is the same as on my PC CORE ported, I solved the problem of just having both and one for production and one for open. On my production gun I did put just a small patch of black duct tape on top the over travel bump. That was just the perfect amount for the over travel and is all but invisible.

Good luck.
