Just called a shop where I recently got a Gp100 & a 686 & they gave me a price of 599 for a M&P 9 pro ,price wise is that good-bad -middle,also am I better off with the non-pro & putting the Apex trigger in or go with the Pro cause of the xtra's ?

Is it a 5 inch or the 4 inch with night sights?
I just got a 4 inch with night sights. I paid $575.00 out the door.
As far as the trigger. It is WAY better than the standard M&P pistols, but the APEX triggers are better still. I will be adding the APEX FSS trigger to mine soon.

Its the 5", forgot to ask about the sights,if I get the Std. & change the trigger all thats left is to change the sights,so Im thinkin why spend the xtra for the Pro,just get the Std. & make the changes & itll come out cheaper ,unless the Pro has other better parts

My first question is "What are you going to use the gun for?"
I have both the 4.25 and 5" 9Pros, and they are different guns for different purposes. I use them both pretty much stock with some polishing. I am an old revolver shooter, so a 2-stage trigger feels normal to me.

The 5" is what you want for IDPA/SSR and USPSA/Production. The 5" Pro comes all set up for these with FO sights and a lighter trigger. If you put in a FSS, you will be bumped up into a race gun division against $2500 STIs. There are other APEX kits that are legal in "stock" divisions as "internal action work."

The 4.25" comes with night sights, and is much more comfortable to wear sitting in a vehicle as a service pistol.

If you already know you want to redesign the pistol for whatever reason, then it makes sense to buy the cheapest version you can find and load it up the way you want it. However, I don't know where you can find a 9L. Of course if you do not intend to do sanctioned competition but just want to plink, then the barrel length may not matter.

P.S. There is no way to come out cheap except to buy what you want and shoot it. You can easily spend more than the original price on modifications and accessories. And drops ins do not change the desirability of internal polishing, which costs unless you know how to do it right.

I'd say 'not bad' price.

I chose the 'standard' plus Apex parts route. If you can get a military / LEO discount, and are comfortable buying online, I'd say the Pro is the way to go.

On the other hand, if you want to verify the pistol visually, and check the date of production, yourself, then your options may be limited to local buys.

5 inch M&P Pros can pretty hard to find. I've seen them sell for over the $669 retail fairly often.

Better trigger, excellent sights, they are great guns and better than the Glock 34 IMO.

/c

I saw exactly one 'Pro' pistol for sale (at a Gun store in Abilene Tx while I was on business) while I was looking from June through last month when I bought. Almost no one seems to stock them, or they sell quickly, or both.

Gonna use it for Range /home defense & occassional carry ,the gunshop I found near my house that I never knew about seem to have good prices & have things that are hard to get have it in in stock, now I found another & they have at least 5 pros with 5" barrel ,I went there 2 weeks ago to get a 686 & they had a Gp100 when I went there which I didnt expect so I got both,I guess what I wanna know is the Std. with a Apex trigger better than the Pro outta the box

All the APEX triggers are better than the Pro trigger out of the box. The Pro is far better than standard though.
I got the 4 inch Pro because it has the night sights and the deal I got made it worth it.

Well just got back from the Gunshop & got the Pro,dont like the plastic hinged trigger & it has too much pre travel for me,looks like Ill be lookin to see which of the kits they have, seems like there are alot of different kits from Apex as well as vids .

Has anyone bought online from Budsgunshop? They have the best online price for the 9mm 5" Pro right now.

I always use Bud's as a benchmark for prices and occasionally buy from them. A lot of people have problems with Buds but I have gotten 2 M&P's and a Versa Max (just recently) from them w/o issue.

5" pro is $524 shipping included and no tax for most. I have someone local that still does $25 transfers so works good for me. I also see 5" Pro CORES are $574 right now. They are notoriously slow at shipping lately but they have a get it by Christmas guarantee right now.

How does mailorder work, does the shop you send it to get pissed for not makin the sale ,what are the add. charges that get tacked on,if not many looks like Ill be doing that for future purchases.

Some do around here and that's why they charge $50+ for transfers. Pawn shops are usually the best for taking deliveries and doing transfers. Other than transfer there are no other charges I know of. Its gets delivered to them, they do the background check and you carry the gun home. You just have to make sure wherever you are buying from has your accepting shops FFL on file or provide it to them. Places like Bud's have databases of valid FFL's to ship to.

Go here and find local FFL.
Discount Guns for Sale - Buds Gun Shop-- FFL Search

It will give prices and ratings. Also contact info for the FFL. Use one in green, I made the mistake of trying a new guy, and it took two extra days on the front, and so far at least two days and counting for delivery. Just to save $10!

Also if you use the e-check,it'll add a couple days to clear funds, but you'll save money going in.

Over all, we have bought a few guns this way and been happy, but I'm a little irritated right now because I sold my M&P9fs already and was supposed to go to a 3gun match today (but it got cancelled anyway), the price went up on Bud's the day I ordered to $570, but was committed and still bought it, and dealing with this new FFL.

Besides getting a better price online, you usually avoid sales tax by buying online. You will pay a small transfer fee but I usually take my savings and spend them with my receiving shop/FFL as well. In the end, cost is minimized, the shop makes a little extra and I get a little something extra too.
