I'd asked about Shield accuracy a few weeks ago, after I'd run 500 rounds through my new Shield 9mm with what I considered sub-standard accuracy at 8-10 yd range distances.
I'd used four different American brands of 115gr FMJ ammo with the pistol showing no ammo preferences, as well as shooting from a rest with no inherent improvement.
Most of the responders considered the cause of the problem 'operator error'.
I spoke to a representative from Smith&Wesson who provided a shipping label for return the pistol for evaluation.
FedEx 2-day air round trip with a 10-day turn-around time. Very impressive!
The included repair order indicated the barrel had been replaced and the 10# trigger pull was addressed.
Prior to the repair, I could keep hits within an NRA SR-1 repair center target at 9 yards, but they were "all over" the paper.
On return of the pistol, using the same brands and weights of 9mm FMJ ammunition, I was able to keep all hits within a 3" circle at 9 yards, which is closer to what most of the respondents were indicating was the accuracy potential of their 9mm Shields.
Now that I've confirmed it wasn't 'operator error' but faulty parts, I think I'll keep it!
