I have a m15 snubby that appears to have a replaced hand. At lockup the cylinder is almost as tight as a Colt. When the trigger is pulled the cylinder is pushed around slightly, then as it is released the cylinder rotates back slightly. Depending on how slowly I'm shooting, sometimes the cylinder stop jumps out of the notch after firing and releasing the trigger. I suspect reducing the width of the hand will solve this problem. Should I file on the side that contacts the extractor, or the frame side? Thanks.

1. Your stop needs to be checked & repaired for proper lock up.

2. Reset your endshake.

3. Use range rods to determine if the chambers and barrel are in alignment.

4. Then you adjust the lock up at the extractor lugs using a file for each chamber.

4. Is there a jig for this operation? If there is, where is one available? thanks, GLV

No. There is no jig for filing ratchets (as far as I know). Once you locate the long ratchet, you file it carefully like the picture shows. This is out of my old armorer's manual.

Thanks for the info, the problem occurs on each cylinder so I assumed the culprit was the hand. I would consider filing/stoning a hand but would be inclined to send it to a gunsmith for any extractor work.
