All were made between May 1917-Jan 1919. Ya can look just aft of the front sight , if it has the original barrel. You should see a W with something like 12-17 underneath. That stands for Winchester and 12-17 would be December 1917. Though the month might not be exactly the month the rifle was assembled.

April 25 1918 production serial number ended at #276675 April 26 1918 receiver production ended at #278355. I would say the receiver was produced on April 26 1918. That is per the book United States Rifle model of 1917 by C. S. Ferris.

Thank you for the info.
I have all the paper work from when he bought it for $7.50 + $1.35 for packing. He restocked it shortly after. A few years ago I had a German trained gunsmith work his magic on the stock, barrel and trigger. It shoots 1" groups all day at 100 yards.

It's too bad you don't have the original stock. An unmodified 1917 stock is $200 with out the metal and upper and lower handguards.
