FBI Agent James C (Doc) White pistol whipped Kelly outside the courtroom of his Oklahoma City Trial in 1933. Director Hoover advised the Attorney General of the incident in this memo. The agent name is redacted.
Just found this browsing Larry Wack's excellent site "Faded Glory: Dusty Roads of an FBI Era." Larry was an FBI Special Agent and was with the Bureau for more than 30 years. He died in 2019.

Kelly got a pretty good goose egg out of the deal.
