Hello everyone,

I seem to have a problem while inserting my magazine into the grip. I have an M&P 40c and once there is about 1/2 an inch left to snap into the pistol, the magazine just really does not want to go. I have to give it a real forceful push, and sometimes that does not even work the first time. After the magazine is inserted, you can also see that the magazine base plate has more space in the front of the grip than the back (photos attached). The magazines also wiggle and when I'm shooting it makes for an interesting feel to the recoil. I had the 40 fs prior to owning the compact and I did not remember this being an issue. If anyone has any idea why this could be happening please let me know.

The mag gap looks exactly like my 40c. I just tried mine, and it goes in to about the 1/2" you described, and it's stout, but nothing my thumb can't push in. This is with the slide closed. With the slide open, is slides right in.

If it's happening with the slide closed, then it makes perfect sense as you are having to overcome the spring tension in the magazine as you insert the mag and it presses up against the bottom of the slide. With a fully loaded magazine, that is a significant amount of spring tension to overcome.

I went back and tried to insert a magazine with the slide open, it slid right in like crracer_712 said. I guess the springs in my mags just need a little seasoning to em to loosen them up.

A "really forceful push" is what's required every time. Don't have a separate procedure for slide open or slide closed or you're sure to "baby push" it sometime in a moment of crisis with the slide closed.

It's funny to watch the magazine fall out of your buddy's pistol on the range or in a match. Not funny when yours does at 0200 in a dark parking lot.

It all good and all normal. I doubt time will help much.

My SR9c's mag will slide right in to almost the mag catch, with slide closed, then its a stiff push. My LC9 acts more like the M&P, mag has tension about a 1/2" from locking in. Both LCP's close almost all the way prior to getting stiff.

Man up, drive it home:)
