I bought an aftermarket magazine for my recently acquired P08
and it is one shy of original magazine capacity.
Is triple k better or worse than mec-gar?

I think both make pretty good magazines, Mecgar is factory original on many European guns, the few Triple K mags I have are for rimfire guns but work as well as my original factory mags

I have not personally had good luck Triple K magazines. Most of the ones I purchased years ago did not work properly and I returned them. Mecgar magazines are pretty descent in my experience. Don't recall having one that was bad.

I have three Lugers and the MecGar work reasonably well in all of them. I have spotty luck with TripleK. If you can stumble across one of the older, American made ones it is likely to be better than the newer, manufactured in Mexico, variety. Sarco on occasion gets pretty decent aftermarket Luger magazines as well. I don't know who makes them.

Friends don't let friends buy Triple K magazines. I have limited experience with Triple K magazines, but I can say that my limited experience was not good except for practicing my failure to feed malfunction clearing technique.

I’ve never owned a Mecgar and a Triple-K magazine for the same gun, but based on my limited experience with both brands, if I had a choice I would try Mecgar first, every time.

Triple K Magazines, both by reputation and personal experience are JUNK. Enough said! I have had no problems with many Mec-Gar I have bought.

It's always been my understanding that Mec gar is The industry standard.

If Mec gar magazines are available for a given gun that I own I buy them before I buy the OEM

Triple K can be hit or miss. I have a couple for one of my 32 ACP milsurps, and they work fine with FMJ ammo, which is all I shoot in that caliber.

I'll jump on the MEC-GAR bandwagon also. They provide as close to 100% function in P.08 as I have encountered.

The Stoeger branded magazine has maybe 95% feeding reliability. I would not bet my life on it working.

Mecgar makes good stuff.
Triple K, not so much. Lots of them don't work right.
However, Triple K does offer mags for odd ball, out of production guns and sometimes they're the only choice.

Triple K is not the best magazines ... but they make magazines for many obscure handguns ,,, like for my Star Model PS , Walther P38 and Walther PPK ... I would rather have a Triple K than no magazines at all .
Buttt...

Mec-Gar are top shelf and if I can get one ... will do so over any other .
They usually work very well and are well made magazines .
It don't get much better than Mec-Gar .

Your aftermarket magazine will probably work better when not full loaded ... and magazine springs need a little break in time ... Load it and leave it loaded , to help compress the spring ... one day you will be able to slip that last round in ... if not , don't worry about one round ...
