hey i have a quick question about the M&P .40 magazine. i just bought my M&P .40 with carry and range kit yesterday and last night i was looking at buying some laser engraved floor/base plates for the mags. problem is that i noticed that these ones dont have the push button in the middle of the plate, it is closest to the flat side of the plate...

the casing that the factory shoots through the gun before sending it out has a date on it of early 2013, not sure if that is the manufacture date or not.

do the newer models have a different, new floor plate for the mags?

dont know about your floorplate question but that date should be close to when it was made - maybe that same day or up to a couple days earlier - there is a date code on the box as well

The old design is the round hole in the middle of the baseplate, the new design is the square hole on the edge. The metal bodies are the same and you can put either baseplate on any mag body. There are different locking plates but they swap over as well. I haven't noticed any difference between the two. The newer design has a plastic lock plate so I suspect the reason for the change is that it's cheaper. ;)
