So, I'm looking to subscribe to a good firearms magazine but not real sure which one. I have to say that I'm currently more into pistols than long guns right now but I do have my SKS and a few other rifles, and a few shotguns. Primary interest would be things relative to tactic's/training, competition, gun reviews somewhat. Don't have any revolvers as of yet but am slowly growing in interest while auto's are more my current nitch. So what do you all think would be good? What do you currently subscribe to and what do you like/dislike about it? Thanks for the input.

Well, you won't get by with just one magazine subscription, but, I think you'll be off to a good start with American Rifleman, part of your NRA benefits, and American Handgunner, a private publication with other offerings of potential interest.

Antique or modern?

If you are an antique/unusual handgun nut, I suggest Man At Arms- a wonderfully colorful and insightful publication.

As for modern stuff, I second the other suggestions.

Most any of them by FMG are good. GUNS Magazine and American Handgunner are just a couple.

Other than the almost requisite American Rifleman, I take Small Arms Review and Precision Shooting. I'm not a benchrest shooter and never will be, but I enjoy PS as much or more than any other gun rag I've ever read.

I second that. Been a subscriber for years to the 2 mentioned. Recently tried G&A and Shooting Times - just not as good.

Great, thanks for the input so far. I havn't joined the NRA yet so I havn't been thru American Rifleman, sounds like I need to get on the ball with that. American Hangunner sounds like it'll be the online version. Precision shooting looks like it may be the one I actually subscribe to (at least pick up a copy for a test run). Guns&Ammo probably not, but small arms review may be worth a look.
