Do a search, someone recently asked about the same thing not too long ago.

Technically, anything can be done and this is not an exception. However, it will take special work and permanent modification to your rifle, including cutting off your lower receiver extension. I am not saying don't do it, but make sure it is what you really want.
 
It'll fit if ya buy a standard fixed stock tube and the 3/4" spacer used for an -A2 length stock.

It will NOT fit the tube for collapsible stocks.

Unfortunately, the receiver extension is molded to the reciever. mkk41 seems to be referring to a standard M&P 15. PainterlyShotGroup modified his 15-22 to use a standard buffer tube.
