So while helping a friend move, he had a nice cabinet he didnt want anyone and gave it to me. Now I want to convert this to hold my firearms, I can remove all the shelf inside no problem but I dont know what to use to hold the actual guns in place...can anyone help me with that?

It depends on what you're dealing with for size of cabinet and what you want to put in it. I'd search the internet for plans for a gun cabinet. That'll tell you how to build the piece that the barrels lean up against and how far from the back wall to cut out the indentation for the butt plates to rest.

Traditionally gun cabinets for rifles used a 1 x 4's with a series of U shaped notches in it to separate the guns about 6" to 10" from the top and a 1 x 8 along the floor with ovals for the butt to sit in. Both the top and the bottom were lined with felt or velvet to prevent scratching. Have fun! Ivan

Get a nice piece of red oak (or whatever matches) and 2 inch hole saw - drill a hole every 6 inches, the slice the board in half lengthwise. Fasten to top & bottom of cabinet at an angle.

Fill with guns.

Just an idea anyway :D

I will try to post some pictures 2mrw when I get home from work
