Okay I came across this at an antique store. Originally used by Sylvania TV Servicemen, I plan on repurposing it for the range. It looks as if I can put a gun in each door compartment and use the main area for eyes, ears and ammo. As always - thanks in advance!

Before I begin, has anyone done anything similar? Experiences and pics are appreciated!

Nice range box

Google "Shooting Box" and you will get some ideas on setting up your new box. Are you going to mount a spotting scope? Somebody sells a current production case just like that with a spotting scope mount. I think the price was ~$275.00.

Congratulations!

Bluejax ... Cowboy Action Shooters have perfected the wooden shooting box concept. Check out the SASS or CAS sites for some more ideas. That's a great looking project!

Great box! I would love to have one of those. Promise you will not change the outside??:)

I remember going with my Dad to go get new tubes for the radio. Store had those tube tester displays with the sockets on top and the tubes in the bottom, kinda self serve.:) Wish I would have kept all his electronics:(

Engineer1911,

"Champions Choice" for one sells that type of Shooting Box.

I saw them at Camp Perry this summer.

They're all over EBay. But not as nice or as cheap ($20- don't hate on me!) as mine.
I appreciate the leads. Lots of good ideas to consider.

And I promise I won't cover it in STP or Moon Eye stickers!

I would love to find something like that but I'd be afraid I would load it up to the point it would be too heavy to lift. I found a nice small wooden homemade tackle box at a church rummage sale for 50 cents. I repainted it and added a briefcase lock. It's just big enough to carry a pistol and the shooting supplies for it. The pictures shows it loaded for a trip to the range with my cap and ball Remington.

Nicely done!

I like the little combination lock/latch on the end, too.
