OK, so this new Hollywood pile ain't Marlowe but AppleTV's "Sugar" is trying to be just that. The lead is Colin Farrell, who has done some decent work, as "Sugar" a super detective with an ocean of empathy for the downtrodden. The story meanders around with various internal/external conflicts overshadowing the plot.
I probably wouldn't be complaining so much if the "assistant chick" didn't press him to take a "famous gun" (2" M&P) and he proceeds to proclaim "I hate guns" while opening and "Hollywood flicking" said piece closed multiple times.
You've been warned, an hour of life cannot be retrieved. Joe
