Match Made in Heaven

A couple years ago I found this set of ANIB Hogue cocobolo grips in a junk bin for $15. Since then I've been looking for the perfect gun for them to reside. This morning while making my Saturday morning rounds, I found this cherry 4" 586 ND. Seller was asking $899, I wanted to pay $700, we agreed on $760. A match made in heaven.

Edit: It does have the "M" stamp.

A bargain price I think; sold mine a couple years ago for $900 and have seen them sell for $1k+ since.

That is a beautiful revolver! I'm a big fan of Hogue grips, and I have several pair, but one set of wood combat grips has migrated to several different revolvers. If I sell a revolver that wears them, I keep the grips and am immediately looking for another revolver to wear them.

Update: Being grip fickle, I had to try on a set of factory combats I had forgotten about. Hmmm
Guess I need another SB K frame

I am with you. Rarely do I sell a gun with grips i put on them. Guns usually depart with the grips they arrived with, especially if they're original to the gun.

These are some of my favorite grips. I had a 17-6 revolver with those grips on it and when I sold the revolver I did the honorable thing and left them on the revolver. I have often wished that I hadn't been so honorable.

I'm assuming the previous posts are the newer style, with the cut-out on both sides? I much prefer the old high shoulder ones if you have any to show. I am close to having a set of Guy Hogue two piece stocks or the older monogrips for every gun. One or two S&W sets for each as well. This is the prettiest set of mono's I have and they are on a 1964 27-2 but no picture of it.

Show some old monogrips if you have them.

That's a feature that Guy Hogue carried over from when he made them one by one, alongside Hurst and Farrant. Beautiful

You did do the honorable thing. My Smith rimfires all came with combats. If I sell them, they will have the combats and priced accordingly. Same with the 6" Diamondback and 2" 63.
