A local shop has a 19-3 that has been hard chrome plated, and the trigger, hammer, and cylinder release button has been gold color anodized. The gun appears tight. I know it's not a factory gun, and I was wondering what everyone things a fair price for it would be?
It has smooth rosewood finger grip grips on it and it looks really nice. The fact that it's not original factory should just make it a shooter, right? Thanks guys.

Refinished becomes just a shooter........$250-300. Hard chromed is a very durable finish though, it would make a good tackle box gun.

I'm a fan of hard chrome on a working gun...the gold accents make my tummy a little queasy though....That would cause the value to go DOWN in my opinion...

I've also seen the gun @ local shop here.Shop owner insist it's factory.I agree with you it's hard chrome.Like the Spiegel grips & it's 2.5" RB.Make a nice carry gun,but collector value is nil.

I would be floored if S&W let a M19 out the door with gold plated trigger, hammer and cylinder release, but anything is possible. For me it would be a shooter, but I would be replating those gold parts pronto before anybody saw them!

I agree, Smith don't make pimp guns.

Are you SURE it is hard chrome?
Most of those gold and silver jobs I have seen were either nickel or bumper chrome. There was a shop here that did a lively business in two and three tone semi auto MACs for sale in the 'hood.

I had a Metaloy finish put on this Mod. 19-4 as it had considerable damage to the bluing. It is meant to be a working shooter, so I am not concerned with the value, but would place a $350-$375 value on it.
The entire top strap was left flat blued, and the case colored trigger & hammer were not touched.

Richard,
It looks just like your gun except for the gold anodized trigger, hammer, and cylinder release. The gun is an eye catcher. Too bad it's about a hundred overpriced. It's on consignment for $489.00. Way overpriced.
