We recently came across this TV show.... Meat EATer and we like it :)

It shows Steven Rinella going across the globe, hunting and eating his game. He believes in fair chase and advertises a humane kill. Well, in one episode he was in New Zealand and the guy there has his dogs chase feral pigs and then he goes in with the knife to finish them off. I disagree with this, it's cruel and not a humane kill.

Anyway, I like how he talks (very articulate) and not over the top "I'm the super cool guy and you are not" type of thing. He's also very knowledgeable, humble and respects flora and fauna.

Hunt. Fish. Learn. | MeatEater

We watch it on My Outdoor TV, a streaming service just for hunting shows. It's got a 7day trial and then it costs like $98.99/year. I like it, lots of stuff to choose from, lots of stuff to learn. Runs pretty stable too. The app kicked us out a few times, but after a restart of the TV is was good.

Try it, you might like it.

I'm tired of Netflix, Hulu and the like, we cancelled them last year. But this is a channel I like to watch and I'm willing to pay for. I mean Philo cost more and you still have commercials... and stupid tv shows/movies...

Because of the show I bought his books.

Great quality, great pictures and info. We'll definitely get back to the outdoors life...

I've been watching MeatEater for a few years now. Steve Rinella is my kind of ethical, fair chase hunter. You can also catch MeatEater on the Outdoor Channel and Netflix. BTW, Rinella's fish and game cookbook has a lot recipes to prepare some great wild game meals.

Another show you might try to find is Solo Hunter....it's on Amazon Prime and you can also access the full seasons at SOLO HNTR TV & BRAND – STRONG AS ONE | #solohntr (click on "video"). This is another great hunting show that is fair chase and not so commercialized. Features Tim Burnett & Remi Warren (who also hunts with Steve Rinella on MeatEater on occasion).

So many of the other hunting shows are now just "canned hunts" with constant shots of advertiser logos (the hunters look like a Nascar car with all the logo's on their clothing and gear).

Indeed, some are really ridiculous.

I remember SR shooting a bear and cooking its meat in its own fat. That looked so darn good.... makes my mouth watery...

I will check it out.

Andrew Zimmern and Alton Brown are the only two foodies that I watch on a regular basis.

MeatEater/Steve Rinella is not-so-much a foodie show as it is a hunting show with food preparation...IMO. Probably 70% hunting and 30% food preparation with much of the food prepared while in the field.:)

I absolutely love this show! Steve is from the Muskegon MI area, about an hour from me. He’s done a show where he floated down the Muskegon River and camped/fished along the way. Lots of memories from my younger years on the River.

He’s definitely NOT a trophy hunter and on most hunts he’s fine with taking a younger (tastier) animal. Pure class and articulate like no other hunting/fishing shows.

I do not watch many hunting/fishing shows but I do watch Meat Eater on occasion. Not only a great hunter but excellent cook. He also has a great philosophy on hunting and is not an "ambush" hunter. He "hunts" Puts a whole different perspective on hunting than a lot of the other shows.
