Hi everybody! This is my first forum since BBs. Thank you all for your thoughts and observations. It’s always good to meet people who can use their own mind. I admit I didn’t read all the posts, so please forgive me if my concerns are not new, and please point me to the right place.
Here it goes. In 1996 Federal law forbidding gun ownership to home violence offenders came out and was introduced RETROACTIVELY. I could not find statistics on how many thousands of citizens lost their right to own.
Now we can expect new entries in FBI DB in regards to our mental well being. I would anticipate that the next group to lose would be DUI convicts. Makes sense because that would take care of about 10% of population (just a guesstimate). But how far the definition of mental illness can spread? I would not be surprised if prescription for Prozac at any time in your life would become a reason for disqualification.
To me all that looks like well planned, gradual disarmament.
And an observation: Soviet Union would probably still be here if not for the guns which found their way from Russian Afgan war to the hands of Russian citizens. Nobody was allowed to have any firearm in USSR (excluding double barrel SG with hunting license and registration).

I think you may be on to something. I for one abhor and am repulsed by the frequency with which this nation forces medications on our school children for ADHD, which, in my way of thinking is a poor excuse for teachers to not have to discipline children when and if necessary. That said, I know of a few neighbor's kids who have tried to join the military, only to find that their use of ADHD drugs while in junior and senior high school somehow became a matter of public record, hence they were ineligible. These kids are adults in their early 20's who no longer take these medications, have not for years, and yet somehow the military was able to find out they were diagnosed and placed on these medications. They all are either gainfully employed, and/or college students and college graduates. It is by no means a reach for one to see where all this is going insofar as mental health and gun ownership is concerned.

I tend to believe that medications are pushed on us for the sole purpose of making money. Which does not prevent some committee down the road to discover needed adverse effects. Intuniv for kids, legalized pot for adults... May be that's the way to pacify a nation? I've heard, Mr. Prez is thinking about fed legalization. Probably as soon as pilot programs in WA and CO find the best way to trace and control.
