Been up since one cooking /babysitting/cutting/ three whole hams to feed the shutins this morning. No water. Watched Chriwstmas Story three times. Ready to start drinking but still have to be at the Parish Hall for 8 to set up the dinners. Ought to be fun, what with me not showering since Friday.Thankfully the kids are all off on their own Christmases os it's just me and the wife. What's for our Christmas dinner? Don't know but you can bet your backside it ain't gonna be ham!!!
In the furure, if any of you see a little dark skinned nun from Jamaica coming towards you wit ha big grin on her face RUN FOREST FUN-she's gonna put you to work!:D Ought to get back home around 11 and have some quiet time with the wife.
Oh. And to those who might ask-yes, I did keep da bones! Baby Jesus would understand;)
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good day!!

Gary,

God bless you for helping others. Sister Corita of St Augustines here in Cleveland received our help for several years. While she and others would man the kitchen, my wife and I would deliver meals to those who requested them. We had a 15 passenger van, took the seats out and would deliver meals all day. +/- 300 meals delivered by us by the time we called it a day.

Amazing the gratitude, or lack, from those who received.
We stopped when we moved away.

By "Parish Hall" I thought you were referring to the local bar. Parish could mean a couple things in Louisiana. Then you said "nun" and it became clear.

Forgive me. I'm a Yank. When I visit relatives in Metairie I tend to pick up the accent. They just look at me like I'm mocking them. Even so, I still don't understand the langauge!

We had the 7 fishes (modified based on availability) last night and lasagna and leg of lamb tonight. Ham sounds good....wonder if the stores are open today?

Merry Christmas!

I do believe there may soon be some homemade soup down on the bayou, Flavored by a ham bone. What ya think?
It's either gonna be Red Beans or split pea soup! We had over 700 meals boxed and put out for delivery by 10:00. The most heartening thing was the amount of teens that showed up with their parents to help. We had three lines going and before you know it-we were done-kinda like that Cool Hand Luke scene where they were sanding the road. Water was on when we got home, had a nice shower-watched football and had a real snuggle down do nothing Christmas with the Missus. First time EVER without having some place to go or someone over. It was kinda nice! Next year through I want the grandson(He and both parents had da 'vid and are quarentined for now-but according to the little movies sent by text messages, the little bugger is doing just fine).
I hope everyone had just as good a Christmas as we did!
