Michael Vick signs with the Eagles....

Offended Hokie

Such is the power of money in commercial sports that they'd draft Osama bin Ladin if he could run a 9.2 100.

I used to work at Tech, and it saddens me that that great institution continues to be humiliated by the likes of the Vick brothers, and the idiot who brought them here in the first place. Yes, Frank, it's you I'm talking about.

Rest easy though, gentle reader, and know that constitutionally-scummy dirt bags like Mikey and his brother will, soon enough, find their way into another tight spot created by their irrepressible dirtbagism. Let's hope the next time that he gets 20 to life with no parole.

I'm no Vick fan, but he did his time and I just don't see a big deal about his playing again. If he had beaten his wife half to death and neglected his kids he would still be allowed to play, so I just cannot see why he is "worse" than some of the bums who play every Sunday.

I agree.

Ron Mexico is back!

This ought to be interesting.

Isn't Phillie where they booed Santa Claus on National TV at an Eagles game?

Can't wait for the signs.

The man has served his prision term and deserves the opportunity to make a living just like everyone else. I frankly, am amazed that the NFL Commissioner gets away with suspending or banning players for what they do off-field and out of season. I know its a 'morals clause' in the contract. I would certainly negotiate it out of any contract offered to me. But what would you folks say if you were fired from your job because the management of your employer did not like something you did after hours or on vacation?

We live in a democracy, we don't work in one. However, I do agree that he did his time. Now he should be allowed to move on with his life. I heard his apology and in part he said he didn't take a leadership role and stop what was going on, well he is a football player not a leader.

I just hate how he pretends to be so sorry for what he did.

No... he's not.

If he wasn't caught, I'm sure he'd still be doing it.

That said, he served his time, and if Philly wants to sign him.... whatever. I'll just boo him, like I'm sure many others will do as well.

The reason people don't want him to move on with his life and continue to play is simple.

Scumbags that abuse animals, children and women deserve nothing but the utmost conempt society can heap upon them. Shoveling s...poop with his tongue at the dogpound is above the tasks a man of his stature should be allowed to undertake for money.

Fighting dogs, fighting jocks, a violent man in a violent business.
He and his colleagues would be out there with swords and spears if there were well paying jobs for gladiators in the 21st century.

I just ignore him and them.

I am not a Vick fan, nor am I a football fan. However, for Vick to serve that much time for what he did is a gross miscarriage of justice when there are plenty of people in our communities as well as the National Felons League who have beat their wives/girlfriends to a bloody pulp, some who have killed someone while driving UI, and never missed a game or served over a few nights in jail.

If Vick had beaten some female within an inch of her life, he would be much less despised by the public than he now is. It is a sad commentary on our society when the public shows 10x the outrage toward abusing animals than to abusing humans.

Morals? He was convicted of a felony! I'd say that goes way beyond morals! And if I were convicted of a felony, I wouldn't be at all surprised if my employer fired me. Whether or not he deserves to make a living in the NFL is up to the commissioner. But let's not confuse a felony conviction with visiting a strip club while on vacation! Personally, I think he should have had to serve a couple thousand hours of community service when he was released. At the SPCA shelter! THAT'S what he "deserves"!
