Every 6 weeks or so the Army Rangers do mountain training on the mountain that I live. The class will usually consist of 250 student Rangers. They are normally in the woods or on the rock face when I hike around but at times we will meet. I have noticed that the M4's that they carry have a carry handle attached. Any of you guys know what brand of carry handle the military utilize?

The carry handle comes with the carbine. So, Colt, if it's a Colt, Remington, if it's a Remington.

If it is an issue rifle then it is an FN or Colt carry handle.

Been on that mountain and when I was there they issued us some pretty beat up training rifles that had used blanks so long I would have been afraid to fire a live round through mine. If I remember we used different rifles for live fire at Ft. Benning.

Yep, I didn't think the carry handles would be anything other than the ones issued with the weapons. I never liked them, personally.

FN or Colt as those are the only 2 manufacturers who supply the regular military with ARs. But mostly it's Colt. FN does more heavy stuff

Mine is a NcStar that my son bought for my Ruger AR-556. I don't know, or care, how much he paid for it, but, it's the thought that counts. And, I have to admit, once I sighted it in it has stayed sighted in. It is made very well and fits my AR-556 perfect! I like it.

Yes, it can be used as a carrying handle, but it's primary purpose is as a rear aperture sight. Truth is, the Stoner design is best carried either by the sling or with a firing grip. Those rifles can do most any manipulation (except clearing a double-feed) with your strong hand on the pistol grip...

I was in the Army and USMC during the 70's.
You did not want to be caught using it as a carry handle.
