Just stopped by the liquor store to buy some 16 ounce Budweisers as a gift for my gunsmith who about half the time doesn't charge me. He is the best pistol smith I know and is a really good person. The older I get the more often people do free things for me.

Right beside the 16 ounce display were some 12 packs of 8 ounce Buds. I bought some for myself as I like a little beer but often don't drink a whole 12 ounces. It was less expensive per ounce that the regular size Buds.

Just to drink those little boys down in Mexico.
When it’s only 3pm, it’s about a 100 degrees,
And there is no sign of them running out or shutting down,
You might want to take it easy!
Or not!

Had an uncle years ago that had a tendency to overdo it with the beer. His wife at the time suggested he try the Miller High Life 7 ounce bottles when they first came out in order to temper his consumption. The first night he drank 48 of them.
10.5 Quarts

Back in SoFl (Hollywood then), we called them B.S. beers. Just right for a quickie in the 7-11 parking lot when you ran into a friend & a quick chat.

Reminds me of a joke:
A big Texan is visiting Ireland and stops in a pub one evening.
“I’ll bet $10000 that there’s not a man here that can drink 30 pints of Guinness in a half hour”.
At the far end of the bar a little old man gets up and walks out.
About 45 minutes later the little old man walks back in and takes his seat.
“Hey Yank!” he says. “Does your offer still stand if anyone here can 30 pints of Guinness?”
“Sure does” replied the Texan and he laid 100 $100 bills on the bar.
“You’re on” said the Irishman and he began drinking pint after pint of Guinness and with seconds to spare he finished his 30th pint.
The Texan walked over and slapped the old man on the back, handed him the money said “A bet’s a bet and here’s your money old timer, but I have a question. When I first made the bet you got up and left. A while later you came back and took me up on my bet. Where’d you go?”
The Irishman replied “Well You see $10000 is a lot of money over here Yank. Before I took your bet I went to the pub across the road and drank 30 pints over there just to make sure I could do it.”

I seem to remember 7oz bottles as little joes? Guys who liked cold bottled beer served in taverns liked them. A 12oz bottle of beer on a bar warms up pretty quick in the summer. Coors or Strohs tried the seven oz. bottles for sale in liquor stores maybe 15 yrs. go. The came in 24 bottle cases. I almost killed my fridge opening the door 6 times an hour.

Many years ago (the 70's) Coors was only sold west of the Mississippi River, except for a few river cities like Memphis. Good friend was a clothing salesman, and he would import cases for us while on his road trips to Memphis. 40 8-ounce cans per case. They disappeared fast, even if one bought several. 4 cases would fill the bottom of a fridge for a couple of weeks, at least.

We called the 7 ounce beers pony’s. Don’t know why.
