Mislabeled guns are fun

I bought a pre war K22 at auction once that was listed in the catalogue as a model 34.

I have a snubby model 19 that has matte chrome plating and looks for all the world like a stainless model 66.

I went into Gander Mountain once and the 8 incher in the cabinet piqued my interest. The label said "Model 27", but upon examination it was a pre-27. Priced at $295 I couldn't get out my CC fast enough. It appeared unfired, but it had a trigger shoe on it. The clerk said there was something wrong with the trigger. (hahahah)

He came back and said there was a problem with the paperwork. Could I pick another gun? (heck no) It took 2 hours to get it resolved but finally it came home with me. A quick Gunbroker check indicated that $1295 was a more reasonable price.

A year later I came home with a Pre-14 for $195. It was easily a 95% shooter, so not pristine, but still made me happy.

A year later Gander closed and I almost cried.

I have a Mosin M38 that is allegedly chambered in 6.5x55.

Then there is the Enfield No1 MkVI I own that admittedly was rebuilt into No4 format. It was advertised as a No4 Mk1 but the receiver is obviously a No1 MkVI

A guy was walking around at a gun show with what I assumed was an M1A slung over his shoulder. I asked him if I could look at it and as he handed it to me he told me it was an M1A. I immediately saw the switch lever and realized it was actually an M14, I gave it right back to him. I'll have to admit that it would have been fun!

Fulton actually makes a fake selector you can install for "the look" https://www.fulton-armory.com/selectorswitchnon-functioningreplicasteelparkerized.aspx

I found this on GB. The seller listed it as Stainless Steel. Also said in the ad you can shoot it single action or double action. Which indicated a bubba hammer bob job if true. I knew instantly it was a limited Colt Custom Shop late model Detective Special. DAO, Hard Chromed, Factory Tuned Action, and a unique Front Night Sight installation which the seller also failed to mention or show in his ad. Bought it for a fraction of what these can go for.

I'm sure there was something wrong with the paperwork and they wanted you to pick a different gun. The paperwork issue was the price tag. Whoever made the price tag forgot to put a "1" in front of the "295" and when discovered, they wanted a second chance at a full price sale.

Here's my "Model 67":

Or this "low serial model 39" that I've since sold to another Forum member:
