Just recieved an order from Midway, but the JP spring kit was cut open and missing the small coil spring!! I dont know the name of the spring but from the pictures on the site it looks like a short ballpoint pen spring. So my question is if I install the new yellow springs and retain the standard "ballpoint spring" that was part of the factory blue springs will this be a problem? I'm sure they were intended to be installed as a set, but what issues might rear thier ugly heads if any? Im a novice to these spring changeouts, so would rather ask the question than NOT.

Thanks for the Experienced Help!!

That sounds like the Disconnector spring. It goes into the trigger and the disconnector sits on it. I can't say if this would cause an issue or not, because I do not know if the JP spring kit's disconnector spring is different than standard mil spec.

I would call Midway and see about a replacement. Its called the "disconnecter spring" btw.
Or if it was me id clip a coil off the stock spring to lighten it and then stretch it back out to its original length.
Honestly i didn't use mine from the JP set due to my pretravel adjusted trigger requires a shorter spring.

If midway makes it to hard on you to get it replaced just pm me and ill throw mine in an envelope and send you mine.
Odds are it wont hurt anything tho to use your stock one, You just may feel a little more trigger movement while firing as the parts it controls will be a tad stiffer.

Get Midway to give you a complete set. JP wouldn't have included a new disconnector spring if the stock one was OK to use with the other jp springs in the kit. My 2 cents worth.

If u decide not to send it back, Put your springs in and reuse the factory disconnect.. cock the hammer with your hand and while holding the hammer so it doesn't hit anything pull the trigger and hold it..while ur holding it recock the hammer then let off the trigger be ready to catch the hammer incase it jumps the sear.. if it resets ok and the hammer stays cocked for a few cycles its fine.. if not try stretching the factory disconnect spring alittle bit.. but if you don't care to wait on the new springs id just call them and get new 1s

Thanks will call Midway monday, and if they want to exchange instead of sending only the missing spring will try what BELT FED said.

Thanks
Bob

Midway will take care of you. Heck, you can call them today; they even have Customer Service folks on staff during the weekend.

Great Service!!

Called Midway earlier and they will send out a new complete spring kit ASAP!! Much appreciated.

SCORE!

The disconnector spring cushions the hammer when it comes all the way back under recoil, that is, if your hammer has a "tail". The tail impacts the disconnector, and that spring cushions it. This is why I wonder about cutting the tail off of hammers to lighten them. That disables the "cushioning" function of that spring.

I have the stock disconnector spring with the JP hammer and trigger springs on my MP15. Everything works just fine. The trigger pull is a very consistant 4.5 pounds.
