They are having their show this weekend. Just had a friend ask if I'd like to go. Anyone on here ever been to this show in the last year or two? Worthwhile going to it? It would be an overnighter for sure. About 7 hours drive!

Well as one who lives in Montana I would say no thanks... Missoula is a very liberal city and most of the people I had any contact with there were just a pain in the #ss. That is just me, now if there was a gun show was in say Hamilton, MT which is south of Missoula, well I would go in a heartbeat. Those folks in Hamilton are a bunch of very independent thinkers,(ie anti-government). I might go if nothing else for the scenery. It is a nice drive on I90 from Billings to Missoula. I am about 4 hours from Missoula and it just isn't worth it to me. If you do go don't be surprised if the prices are a wee bit high and maybe even some losers outside protesting the evil gun show. Just my thoughts from the Big Sky Country.

Well I go to Montana Gun Shows quite often. Just never been to the Missoula. I also know there are a lot of left coast people out that way. Never saw anyone protesting a gun show. Might have to go give them a little laugh. Gun show prices are always high...but I usually go for the little stuff and an occasional firearm. I like the smaller shows myself and will be at Livingston next weekend. Thanks for the reply

It's been a few years, but I did go up once to see if it was worthwhile. I wasn't all that impressed with what was there or the prices either. Haven't been back.

Maybe it was just me.

I'll be making the 2 hour trek from Salmon, Idaho. I'll be the guy wearing the camo ball cap. :D

Went to the Wisdom, MT show last weekend.

I have been attending the Missoula show at the Adams Center for thirty years or so. I can not recall a single time there were any protesters outside or inside.

I doubt if I'd drive seven hours to it though. The two hours plus I drive is about right.

Where in Wyoming are you? If I were you, I'd make the trip just to stop at the Grizzly Bar in Roscoe for a ribeye. If it's on the way, that is.

I won't comment on the crowd in Missoula, but I always like a road trip in that part of the country.

P.S. There are liberals in Hamilton, too, and they all carry.

went out there..Friday wasn't crowded so you could see stuff. Saw SOME ridiculous prices and a whole lot of junk. Saw a few really good prices on some long guns..which I really didn't need. Otherwise A decent 3 screw Ruger SS 22 with a mag cylinder and a cylinder from some other kinda 22 revolver. If I had a regular 22 LR cylinder I woulda bought the darn thing. No decent or otherwise bullet molds dies or other casting stuff. Got some 22 ammo for a good price one pound of Power Pistol powder. 750 plated 38 bullets for 20 bucks. Was looking for a M-57 or 58. Found a nickel 58 but it was a refinish. Didn't see anything to trade one of my 3 inch 29-3s on although I was tempted by an F grade Remington pump. Well I been to see the varmint..... doubt I'll go back any time soon.

Friday near the entrance there was a nice 57-1 a 4" gun, in box for $795 asking price. Blued, very clean. Possibly gone or you missed it.

Inside another guy had a very early K-22 but it had been rebarreled with a 4" bbl that didn't match the rest of the gun. Asking $500 and immediately came down to $400. I was tempted at four but I have enough orphans already.

I had very limited time on Friday....had to get to GNP for a reunion of old Park employees.

The show is getting smaller with less room between the tables. HOW they can accomplish that I don't know. You'd think less vendors would mean MORE room.

Been in Roscoe at the Grizz. Kinda out of the way less'n I go by Red Lodge way. Want a really good Ribeye or NYStrip...go to a little bar in Edgar 'tween Rockvale and Fromberg. Right at the edge of the reservation. Ain't cheap but great. You might even have to make reservations.

If it was there I missed it darn it. Downstairs on the main floor a fellow had a really nice pre 18 5 screw made in 54 I think but the price was very high at 895 I think. He also had 3- 5screw 27's..a little rough though. I did get a good buy on some Weatherby brass from him though.

I saw the pre 18 also, along with a few other m18s a guy had on the mezzanine. Most 18s I've seen in one place in a long time.

I picked up a nice set of N frame Presentations for $50. Quite a steal!
Overall the show was decent compared to what I was used to iin CA. Just wish the feds would allow interstate sales of handguns. ~sigh~

The Missoula show used to be a pretty fabulous show...Hank Williams Jr. on occasion would have a table there with a number of gorgeous Colt SAA's...a friend of mine bought a 32-20 from him...his comments were...the worst condition Colt on Hank's table was 100x nicer than the best one he had!
It was at the Missoula show that I got to see a documented Colt SAA from Custer Battlefield....almost erie to me. The only one I have ever seen that was not in a museum!
I don't know if it is still that way or not but the Missoula show used to have lots of Winchester lever guns and Colt SAA's....usually over-priced but still way cool to look at.

Bunch of Colts & Wins

Many way overpriced. but not unusual. I saw quite a few 18s some K-22s and other stuff that I'd just love to have but I've about bought my sekf imposed limit for the year...unless I sell one or 2. The dealers in Mt will transfer guns for you. My transfer dealer in Wy does the transfer for 25 bucks on the first...20 on the 2nd.

One thing I can't believe I bought was a couple sets of RCBS 25 ACP dies...but the price WAS right. Already have a bunch of brass bullets and a 25 cal bullet mold. I am certain I've lost my mind.I have a couple hundred rounds of new S&W 25 auto brass.

Did you see the Model 35 in the back room with scarcely a turn line? That one made me wish I had a need for another 22.

I did, and didn't know what it was until I asked! Beautiful gun.

I was on the hunt for a 2nd or 3rd Gen Colt SAA in 44 special. I brought the Walther P38K with me to trade or sell. Saw one ala pinto new with shabby box near the exit door. Asian gentleman selling would not trade.

There was a guy back in the corner of the main room with a VERY nice pre M-18 , when I first looked at the price tag it read $500! I looked at it closely and almost broke my arm getting five hundred dollars out. Seems he had MIS marked the tag. I'll bet that was the gun then marked $895.

Missoula has been good to me over the years. Found my 617 non underlug gun there ten years back for $450. Box and everything!

Recently bought a very nice, early P&R 629 there for a rrand, but with a few sets of combats and a spare set of smooth N frame targets.

We were on our way to Glacier Park for a reunion of ex Park employees, so unfortunately had to blow through quickly. Which was unfortunate.

In Montana the Missoula and especially the Bozeman shows have yielded some good finds. For both myself as well as my partner in crime MT Helo.

Same can be said for the Reno Shows at the old Hilton.

I didn't attend, it's in enemy territory. The only show I've attended this year has been the one in Great Falls, and the only thing I bought was a tin S&W sign that now graces the wall of my man cave.
