Hello everyone I bought 2 mod. 10's off this site from twogunjay , no disapointment here . I knew they where leo tradeins and finish was anything but mint. My question is will they handle +p ammo safely or not , one is pinned one is not ; mechcanics seem fine , smooth and crisp , what do you think , thanks Greg

"Any .38 Special marked with the "Mod 10" markings is safe with +P ammo -- the pre-war "K" frame guns were not made to fire overpressure ammo"

Actually, the model marked guns were not made for overpressure ammo, either, as +P wasn't invented until many years AFTER they started using the model numbers.

AND... +P is NOT "overpressure." Factory +P is loaded 3,000 PSI BELOW maximum allowable pressure.

In my head I know that any S&W stamped 38 Special is OK with +P as it is not a warm load. But in my heart I worry about the metallurgy of guns made before around 1930 so I do not own or shoot guns made before that date.

Thanks you guys , agian your a wealth of information. You can be as dumb as a post and still shoot safely by asking question and getting ansewers from you guys . You take care of your own by sharing with the less expierenced , before someone gets hurt. Your the best ,THANKS AGIAN, Greg
