Recently picked up two Model 19s and have a couple basic questions

19-4 blued 4" square butt. made 1981. While i know its been fired, gun is absolute mint. Target grips and original box, I would rate this 9/10, but closer to a 10, its that nice. Paid $500 knowing i got a great deal.

Question: curious what is a realistic value?

19-5 blued 2.5" round but, made somewhere between 83-85, original grips, no box, moderate finish wear in typical areas. Paid $450 which I felt was fair for its condition

Question: what is a good 'period correct' shoulder holster? I intend to carry this one and like shoulder holsters for my wheel guns.

Bianchi #209 is a shoulder holster for the M19/66 snubby. Not sure if it is still made or not, it's like the holster Steve McQueen wore in Bullitt, the gun hangs grip down. They still make shoulder holsters, as does Galco, go to their websites and see what's available.

I carry my M66-1 snubby in a high-rise belt OWB holster made by Triple K. Works well and rides high so easy concealment.

Hey reference to your shoulder holster question, I have a galco shoulder holster with double speed loader pouch, I have several safariland verticals shoulder holsters and single side horizontal snub nose shoulder holsters, bianchi horizontal shoulder holster with ammo dump pouch, Bauer brothers verticals single side shoulder holster and finally a Jay Pee single side verticals shoulder holster.

Sounds to me like you got yourself some pretty good deals on those Model 19s. Congratulations! We would definitely like to see some pics if you would post them. I've only got a couple of 19s...they're both in mint condition and they're both shooters. The 19-3 is a Texas Ranger Commemorative (1973) and the nickel 19-4 is 1978. I used to like to wear shoulder holsters, but down here in hot and steamy Florida I gave them up. The Forum members have provided you with some great holster options. Good luck, and enjoy!

Very good prices on both of them these days, especially the 2.5". You would not see either of them at anywhere close to those prices in a pawn shop or a gunstore in my area (NW Louisiana).

A 4” 19 in basically mint condition is easily a $800+ dollar gun. The 2.5” is going to be closer to $1k depending on condition. It’s not hard to see a P&R 2.5” 19 in excellent shape at $1100+ these days. You got some smoking deals. I would have broken my hand getting my wallet out for those, and have them both represented in my collection already.

Excellent purchases, OP!
