Hi
Today i fired my new [to me] mod.34 with several brands of ammo. I had misfires with every brand. Sometimes 1 or 2 per cyl. sometimes it fired em all. This was in dbl. action. I came home and changed mainsprings but same problem. I decided to remove the firing pin to look at it but...no luck. How in the world do you remove the firing pin on a mod.34 rimfire? I removed the cross pin first. Thanks for any help.

I think you should be able to see what you need to look at by checking the amount of protrusion the firing pin has through the frame.

I guess you made certain the chambers in the cylinder were really clean, right? Sometimes the wax and powder residue will prevent the cartridges from being fully seated and the firing pin blow is cushioned by having to push the cartridge into the chamber.

Or you might need to check the cylinder end-shake. My old 34 had misfires untill I added a shim (did the full reaming of the cylinder/yolk mating area) and now not one misfire in over 2000 rounds after fixing. Wasn't the firing pin protrution.

Good idea,i have not measured endshake.I reckon the needed washer is a different size than the ones i have for my 686?I did increase the spring strength and it seems to have fixed it [only 54 rds. fired without miss fire so far.] Thank you .
