I was in a pawn shop the other day that I check out any time I'm close by. I've been checking this shop for years and they have never had any thing I could not leave without. This time I spotted a nickel 3'' mod. 36. no dash ser# 1368xx. I got it for $300.00 OTD. I'm still new when it comes to pricing a S&W Sooo tell me how I did. I appreciate any and all comments. If I'm looking at SCS&W correctly it was made around 1958. Two of the flutes on the cyl. have chips on the sharp edges. There is some nickel missing at the muzzle and a spot inside the trigger guard. What percentage of original finish would you say it has. The bore is good, trigger and lockup are good, stocks are original. I would like this thread to be a learning exercise, so class is in tell me what you think. As always thanks for your input.

I don't know what I did wrong but i"ll try again

Whatever the pictures show, sounds like you got an excellent shooter of one of the finest S&W revolvers ever made. I suspect the model has been carried by civilians and as back-up by more law enforcement officers than all other guns combined.

Hopefully I'll get the pictures right this time.

Can anybody tell me what I did wrong to cause one picture to be out of place ????

That's a beauty.

I wouldn'y call those chips, just a little rust corrosion thru the nickel finish; probably from storage or carry in a leather holster. I would judge finish at 90%. The price you paid was a good deal!

That gun will look like new with a good cleaning using Flitz, Mothers Mag Wheel polish or Semi-chrome. It will remove the tarnish and fine scratches. Also the black in the corrosion pitted spots will come out with a toothbrush that's had the bristles cut off short for stiffness and used with the polish. Put on a good movie and polish away. By the end of the movie it'll be a new gun.

Shoot and enjoy!

You got that for three hundred bucks?!? You must live right. Have you considered entering the state lottery?

Congratulations on what I think is a great buy.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the tip about the tooth brush. What is your preferred method for cutting the bristles.

Most likely shipped Aug/Sep time frame 1958. Nice catch! ;)

Officer, arrest that men! He stole that fine M36!

The longer barrel makes the deal especially sweet, even if it complicates carry a bit. And I trust you will carry it sometimes.

Thanks for the ship info.

I agree on the 3'' barrel for some reason it speaks to me munch louder than a 2''. I have tried it and it fits nicely in my pocket.
