I am confused, which I guess is nothing new...
I just picked up a Model 42 on Gunbroker, which is marked "MOD 42", but still has the extra sideplate screw with a bug screw. I always thought the bug screw was only on the earliest of airweight centennials, but the fact that this one is marked "MOD 42" makes it post '57.
Did they just have a bunch of pre-'55 frames hanging around the factory that did not get assembled and shipped until after '57?
The serial number is 131XX. I have no idea when the gun was shipped.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
