I am considering the possible purchase of a Pro-Series 632 .327 Fed. Mag. w/ nite sites (no I/L). Is there anyone out there that has owned one long enough (and put enough rounds through it) to comment on the durability of this relatively new J-Frame? Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised no one chimed in on this as I know there are several forum members with 632s. I have a 632 Pro 3" and I'm also considering a 2" version. The 3" has the lock but is basically the same frame. Being made in stainless steel they will be quite durable. I have around 500 rounds through mine and since steel is much more durable then alloy frames I'll never wear this revolver out. These are the coolest Jframes S&W has come out with in a long time and the 327 Magnum is a wonderful chambering. You have so many ammunition options with this revolver, making it very practical for a lot of applications. I'm sure you'll be very happy should you decide to buy a 2" 632.

I have several hundred rounds through my 632-2. Love the night sights and no lock. Ordered the 60 pro grips and it feels great in my hand. My 632-2 is my everyday carry.

My experience with the first version having the adjustable sights and the power port was not good.
First time out with Federal Eagle 100g SP I fired three cylinders worth and 5 of 6 chambers reqd. hammering out of the case using a small screwdriver and the palm of my hand!
Sent it back to S&W on their dime and just got it back today - they replaced the cylinder!! If they only fired three of six chambers for proof testing - the question is - how did it ever leave??
Other than this - neat package!!

Thanks for the responses. The Pro-Series model seems a little "beefier" in construction compared to other J-Frames. I know that Ruger had a lot of problems with the SP series in that caliber but I wasn't aware of any issues with S/W.

I've had the adjustable sight/power port version for over a year. After several hundred rounds of .32 long and .32 mag handloads I've had zero problems...have yet to shoot .327 in it though. It was my first .32 and I fell in love with the caliber and the gun. It should be as durable as any J frame.

I've had mine since '09 and just now got around to sending it back for the same reason. Should be getting my shipping label tomorrow or the next day......

I know they will be replacing my cylinder based on the bulges at the bases of the spent cases, which I will be sending along with the gun. Didn't need a micrometer to know they were there either.....

For the record, we didn't have a problem with my wife's M632-2.

I never had any problems with mine using anything other than the .327 so you might want to give the .327's a try some day just to confirm all is well.....

I had the exact same problem with the Ruger SP101 that I purchased when the .327 Fed Mag was first offered. Sent it back, they changed the cylinder and so far so good....

After over 200 mixed Federal .327 Magnum rounds and 500-600 .32 S&WL mild homebrews, absolutely no problems in my 2 1/8" 632 Pro. I don't shoot the long rounds after the short without a serious cleaning. Fun piece.

I've actually shot more 327 Magnum rounds through mine then the milder calibers and they've all extracted easily. The fun part is then going to the 32 H&R Magnum then down to the 32s with their almost total lack of recoil. Next month I along with 4 friends all have to do out annual HR-218 qualification. Just for fun we are all going to shoot our 632s loaded with 32 S&W ammo. It will be like shooting blanks.
Again I can't thank Stainz enough for recommending the Model 60 Pro grips. These are the best factory grips I've ever put on a J frame.

Yesterday I shot some Federal 32 S&W Long Wadcutters through my 632. Starting out at 7 yards I had a 6 shot cloverleaf, at 10 yards the groups opened up slightly but were still tight. The next outing I'll bring my camera as I was amazed how tightly this little 3" J frame grouped with target ammo. Naturally the recoil was nothing.
I never thought I'd be a big fan of 32 calibre revolvers, the Model 632 changed all that.
