I recently aquired this 10-5 subnose. Curious as to the date of manufacture. Serial # is D164368. Nice shooting, good bluing, about 90+ percent but not original grips. Any info appreciated.

1969-1970 D90001 - D330000

The 10-5 (tapered barrel) was made from 1962 - 1977.
The 10-6 (heavy barrel) was made from 1962 - 1977)
1967: first year for D prefix.
1968: Diamond grips deleted.

The grips appear age and style appropriate to the revolver.

Your grips are from the post-WWII period, 1946-53. Some prefer them. If you get newer replacement grips, don't throw the present ones away.

I don't think so. These look like PC stocks, with the rounded bottom edges and a more tapered shoulder. In addition, there is no diamond. I think you are off by nearly two decades.

I think Jack is correct on this one. Below a quick snip for comparison of the OP's left stock with (from left) a 1968 Mod. 10-6 and a 1947 M&P.
