model 10-9

Not sure if this was ever asked but here we go. I own a model 10-9. It is marked 38 Special. Can I use 38+p ammo without damaging the pistol?

Short answer is yes. Any of the newer (1985 forward) S&W steel frame guns will handle +P w/no problem. We were issued the Model 15, a Model 10 w/adjustable sights, and +P duty ammo.

According to S&W and all steel revolver that has a model number (1957 and on) can be safely shot with factory .38 Special +P ammo. Your Model 10 obviously fits that criteria.

This is asked so often it should be a sticky...
