I had a set of J frame grips that I thought needed a target sighted 22 rimfire with a 3.5 or 4 inch barrel to look good. I found one, as well as a pristine model 15-1. Except for the flat latch, one might think it is a combat masterpiece as well at first glance. I have an equally pristine set of original diamond stocks for the model 43. Cleaned them up a bit and shot them both. This is my first rimfire revolver.

The little alloy cylinder, and frame, model 43 is pretty cool. For every day use (and I do carry it a lot around the yard) I like the little 2" model 317. It's like a fixed sight kit gun.

Very nice pair! Really drawn to the grips on the 43. Vintage Hogues? I like a covered backstrap on my J frames and most grips go the minimalist route
Yes, they are Guy Hogues and I bought the gun just for them. I agree the covered back strap helps on the J frame so that the trigger reach isn't too short but I wasn't going to pass up these grips. They look like a small set of K or N frames. I've bought three J frame gun where a few years ago I said I didn't care about them. I don't have to have a gun for every set of grips but I like to at least have a gun that fits each set. After I had picked these up I learned that Guy Hogue was a real fan of the square J frame. Checkering on these was done by son Aaron who did most of the two piece grips other than the very early ones which were done by Guy's wife.
