Can someone advise the part # for the Center Pin, for a model 17-3 ,6" barrrel?

Part # 079730000 Center Pin SS - old style

This info is from a 2003 S&W parts book. They could have changed the part number to a different number, but if so, it can be cross referenced.

Thank You. Picked up a pretty nice 17-3 at The INDY 1500 Sat. Seller couldn't get the cylinder open. Gave $150.00 for it.
With the help of Jerry K's book determined the center pin was short.

Sorry to bring this old topic up but was I fed a line of BS by S&W just now when they said that the part number you mention was only ever made for the 17-2 and no other model or even generation?

I also coldn't order from them, was referenced to some other places like brownells, numrich etc.

Pretty much universal for barrels over 2 inches:

Pretty much, but now we're dealing with the minority that is not universal. I already bought one of those center pins and it did not fit at all. I need the same old style as this guy needed.

My question though was the S&W rep said ONLY the 17-2 had this old style center pin and no other model or generation of the 17-had it. Also I was not able to buy the center pin from S&W themselves as I gather happened here. So those are the two issues I was asking about.

More places for parts

Have you checked at Numrich Numrich Gun Parts Corporation
or Midway Shop Shooting Supplies | Reloading | Gunsmithing | Hunting gear — MidwayUSA

Either of those places stock center pins. You may also have to custom fit the pin to the cylinder. I recently repinned a older 29-2 for a customer and had to fit the pin
