I would like to know how I would find out the date of manufacture for a model 17 that I recently picked up. The serial # last four digits are 2020. Is a book available that would contain this info. Also, it has the correct box,the cleaning rod, barrel swab and brush, owners manual, reg. card, small screw driver, a small practice target, and diamond grips. any ideas what it is worth?

Stanley, you need the first part of the serial number to date it. KXXXX will do it. Yes there is a book to do this,Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas.
Was on sale at Amazon,com.

As far as worth, a picture is worth a thousand words. What condition is the gun in, what barrel length, and what part of the country are you in? Oh, welcome to the forum.

We'd rather have the first 4 digits!
