i was at the lgs today, and seen a model 48 22 win mag. revolver. this a new gun. it is current manufacture. this gun is just like the old model 17. i looked on s-w website.and seen this gun, and others, including the model 17. is s-w making these old classics again? i just curious. scooter-2

Yes, the model 48-7 is a recent new gun, went back into production in either 2011 or '12.

You have looked close enough to realize that this gun is NOT "just like the old model 17", haven't you? These new "Classic" models have the internal lock, MIM hammers, triggers, and other parts, and the frame has slightly different lines. Even though I personally don't care for them, I'm not trying to badmouth these features, just trying to point out the difference...

The term classic is usually used as a marketing tool to make people think they are the same but as you stated they are not.
